  • Let's take time to discuss decorating a room - one of the easiest and hardest things to do. Most everything needs to match.

In this analysis, we are going to take a look at a formal setting - matching the room decor with the painted wall.

So what do you see in the image above?

Notes:
  • Wall painting style: start with the walls – because that will determine the type of decor that would work for an elegant room. The wall has been sponges painted using deep mauve and grey colors. This tone goes great with black and other neutral colors: what is mauve
  • Console table: the console table is neutral wood – the perfect table type for placing table decor pieces: view types of console tables
  • 3 synchronized clocks: the three, identical clocks run the length of the console table. Each clock synchronized at the same time. You could set different time zones for your favorite places around the world. That would make for a nice conversation when you have company. Note the black trim around each clock; matches nicely against the wall background.
  • Ball globe: this is an interesting item – a large, vintage ball tucked in a globe or ball stand. The ball matches the furniture color. An alternative could be a floor globe. That would compliment the different time zones shown with the wall clocks.
  • Table decor items: the first items are the four, tall candle stick holders – all in black. Looks great against the painted wall. The picture frames are wide wood frames standing next to an antique desk organizer. Everything uses the theme of an vintage look.
Final Observation:

other items in black include the floor and desk lamps. The furniture is neutral – a nice contrast to brighten up the room. The take away is to coordinate your colors, especially for a formal den or living room area. Also keep your table decor items to a minimum. Having too many items can distract from the main decor elements – plus multiple items become a hassle to keep dusted each week (note the number of items on the window ledge – too much.)
