• No kitchen island or counter: this is fairly, good size kitchen that could support a kitchen island and/or sit-up counter. The island is a popular addition in many kitchen remodels.
• Instead – long dining table for 6: but in this kitchen design, you have instead of island a sizeable, dining table for 6-8 household members. An option to consider for your kitchen do-over. The table allows for better association and conversation.
• Very high ceiling: the kitchen area has a high ceiling – possibly 10-feet or more. A higher ceiling allows for tall double-hung windows on two walls. Brings in a lot of natural light that is plus of any kitchen.
• Pendant lighting w/ cookware hooks: the high ceiling also gives you four large pendant lights encased in a metal frame – matches the cookware hooks for hanging pans and other cookware items.
• Long counter: there is a long counter against window that run the length of the kitchen – offers plenty of area for food preparation.

Final Observation:

this kitchen is styled like a country and/or farm-house styled kitchen. It certainly uses the style from the early years where dining tables were part of the kitchen.

The question is whether this setup is better than an island. The island gives you more food preparation space with the addition of a second sink and cooktop. But given the long counter, perhaps a kitchen dining table may be a better option with a family of 4 or more kids.
